2017 Will Be EPIC!!!!!

Ham Bone!!!
2017 is here and we are firing at all cylinders!!! I have to say I feel the fittest I have ever been for January and am so pumped for this year! Crystal gave me the green light to go long again this year and so I took full advantage and signed up for not one but two full Ironman's!!! I might be an idiot scratch that I am an idiot but a passionate one!!! I will be racing Boulder Ironman June 11th and Ironman Arizona November 19th. The training strategy is going to be different then 2015, lots of intervals...like all intervals...sometimes 3 hours of intervals....but I will not sacrifice time away form Crystal or Bodhi!!! They are the most important things in my life and without them I am not me. This means mornings will be spent up at 4 am and some days 3:30 to get the work done before I go to work. I am adapting my training sessions from a gnarly dude name Sami Inkinen and having a flexible schedule. I will have a basic skeleton of sessions I need to do and with any extra time I will throw in whatever I can when I can.

I am truly blessed to be on the Team Wattie Ink again for 2017, I can't believe I have another opportunity to Rock the W this year and have the absolute sickest kit on any course! Every product from Wattie is hand made in the great USA and the quality is second to none. Once you wear a Wattie Ink kit you will not go back to anything else. Our local triathlon shop  Rocky Mountain Multisport has started a triathlon team and has chose to go with Wattie Ink Custom . The design is super dope and they will not be disappointed with the race kits.

I am also so pumped to be the Triathlon ambassador for Source Endurance Training Center of the Rockies. They have just finished construction on the new space and it is so badass! If you live in Northern Colorado and don't take advantage of the services Zack Allison has to offer you are missing out. Several of my training buddies have been joining me at 5am several times a week for a 75 minute Wahoo Kickr Interval Session. Zack has wrote up some triathlon specific workouts and they are no joke hard but essential for getting stronger. Please feel free to reach out to me with any and all questions regarding this amazing facility. They have classes throughout the day as well as cycling specific gym workouts. Oh did I mention it is also home of a local coffee roaster Peritus Coffee. Coffee and cycling go hand in hand! Source Endurance also has showers to clean up after your session before you have to go to work!

Mean Mug
Crystal, Bodhi, Reed, and I are all doing awesome! We had a super chill holiday season with several visitors from Mom, Doug, Emily, Kim, Meenamo, Calliegh, Brysen, Josh, Ashley, Tyler, Kole and Derek ! We love when family comes to visit and wish we could see more of them. Bodhi has survived a nasty cold that lasted about 2 weeks, I can honestly say that the Sunday Crystal had to work and he woke up at 2:30am was one of the hardest and tiring days I've had as an adult. He was congested, coughing, and crying. I had no idea what to do and Crystal was not there, very helpless feeling and literally had to have a pep talk with myself and drink 2 pots of coffee!
My College Cross Country mate Came to town!
Other then that he has been next level, crawling all over, up the stairs, getting into everything, and being a little ham bone! He is so cute I can barely take it!!! Crystal has signed up for a running race but won't tell me what distance it is...either the 1/2 or full Estes Park Marathon. She won't tell me because she knows it is driving me crazy!

The rest of my racing schedule goes as follows:

70.3 St. George Utah May 6th
Ironman Boulder June 11th
Boulder Peak Tri July 9th
70.3 Boulder August 5th ?
USAT AG Nations August 12th-13th ?
Ironman Arizona November 19th

This is tentative but for sure signed up for Boulder, Arizona and St. George.

The cool thing this year is I am starting a fundraiser with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. My father has had Parkinson's for a decade and it is a pretty brutal disease.
Tyler Hustling us!
Besides the physical aspects of the disease, he deals with many areas that others don't see: swallowing issues, choking and vomiting, soft voice, depression issues, no ambition, dressing issues, falling because of the shuffling, restless leg syndrome, sleep deprivation, acting out and talking in sleep, dementia as well as addictions which can be controlled with meds. He currently takes 30 pills per day, timed specifically every 3 hours starting at 6 a.m. and the last at 9 p.m.

Fam Pics!
I want to compete in the Boulder Ironman in honor of his life and everything he has done for me, he is not my biological father but has been in my dad since I was a little boy. I would not be the man I am today without all his sacrifices he has made for me. I am so lucky to have had him in my life and I  want to race for him and try to raise some money in the process. Doug was a Vietnam Vet and they have traced his diagnosis back to the area he was stationed at and the agent orange exposure. Racing for Pepa (Doug) will put more meaning behind all the countless hours of training and the suffering on race day. This race is for him and this disease that has taken so much from him as well as the rest of our family. Ironman Boulder will not be about a PR, Podium, or a Kona Qualifier it is about doing something greater then myself. All the details about how to help me reach my goal are here Ironman for Pepa

I am excited to get this journey started it will be a crazy busy year but should be a blast as Bodhi turns 1 year old in April he is going to be one gnarly dude and I can't wait to watch him grow and learn everyday. Like usual I feel like the luckiest dude in the world and love my life!!!!

Bodhi Bug!!!
Thanks Kenny Withrow for the sick shot!!!!
